Ubuntu is much much faster than windows. I was a Windows 7 user, after trying Ubuntu... It is awesome. Very good performance. But the only problem I found is the theme. A bad dark theme. And finally I got it, the Windows 7 theme. After applying that theme my Ubuntu looks exactly like Windows 7. Here the link to download the theme and further details of it
